Our position

  • Keep great public schools open. Schools anchor communities. Families need stability to plan years ahead. Closure threats weaken trust and push families away.
  • Closures won’t fix the budget. Other districts have lost students and funding to large-scale closures. Promised efficiencies haven’t fixed their budgets.
  • Make public schools work for everyone. Maintain academic excellence and support every learner. Keep families from every socioeconomic background invested.

Keep the public promise

Our schools.
Our communities.
Our say.

Keep great public schools open. Give families a future they can plan around.

We fought the ill-conceived 2024 closure plan documented here until Seattle Public Schools withdrew it. Since then, School Board and SPS leadership have changed.

We remain vigilant. Any future closure proposal must stand up to careful scrutiny, demonstrate real savings and make every effort to earn community consent. Families deserve enough time and certainty to plan. Protecting community ties, academic excellence and schools that work for everyone keeps families invested in public education.

Our investment, on the line

Millions invested. Then targeted for closure.

SPS had already invested $48M+ in capital projects at schools it named for closure in 2024. Seattle voters approve levies to improve public schools—then SPS proposes shuttering them on an unproven promise of savings.
